Summary

Work outside this summer and help our neighborhood residents and agency clients who are often low-income find access to healthy fresh, vegetables! The nearest grocery store in our neighborhood is not walkable and is approximately 5 miles away. 70% of our 900 Meals on Wheels clients are at or below the poverty level and also lack transportation to get to the grocery store or who are the most at-risk and shouldn’t be going to places where they could be exposed to COVID-19. Be a Horizons AmeriCorps Member today to help combat food insecurity!

This person(s) will plant, tend, and harvest vegetables in our 8 raised beds that the residents of our neighborhood and our clients will have access to. They will also coordinate the delivery of the vegetables, cleaning supplies, and personal care items that our home-bound Meals on Wheels clients may need. They will also help with our day-to-day COVID-19 Frozen Meal operations.
